What is it?

This is an NFC reader. The PN532 chip allows various card formats and can work with DESFire cards for high security applications.

It was designed as part of my access control system. Let me know if you are interested in that.

It requires GND/power (3.3V or 5V) and has serial in and out. Also a 5th lead to use as an input (e.g. door bell push).

The case designs allow it to be fitted on the surface of a door (e.g. wood, plastic). There is also a case that is a UK 1 gang pattress box front which is ideal where you cannot run cables from behind, or on a wall, or on a metal door (some clearance from metal door being needed).

I have open source code for DESFire working on ESP32.

A lead is included, 50cm long with pin header sockets to connect to your own dev boards.

Why did you make it?

We wanted much more secure access control, and this meant DESFire cards.
