Excellent hardware, and a seller who stands behind it

The Faikout does exactly what I hoped: it replaces the Daikin wireless adapter with something that talks directly to Home Assistant over local WiFi, no cloud, no vendor app, no account.
What makes it worth the money is that it exposes far more than the original controller ever did. If you have the technical background to make use of it, you get access to parameters and states the manufacturer's own interface simply doesn't surface, and you can build automations around them properly instead of working around someone else's idea of what a thermostat should do. It's not a plug-and-play product for everyone, and it isn't pretending to be one, but if you know what you want from your heat pump it takes you well past the stock feature set.
Documentation is thorough and honest about what it does and doesn'thandle.
On shipping: my first parcel got stuck in Italian customs for a month and was eventually returned to sender. Nothing to do with the seller, but the way they handled it deserves mentioning. Every message got a reply the same day, they chased Royal Mail on their own initiative, and they kept me informed at every step until it was sorted. The order was resolved quickly once it became clear the first parcel wasn't coming, and the hardware reached me in six days. That is how you deal with a problem that isn't your fault.

Nice product, bought for my daughter's birthday later this month.
Not sure a "Documentation" rating is relevant, it came with none. Intuition said just plug 5V USB-C in to power up.
Good light show reacting to a few cantatas by Bach, I figure it'll take off with something she calls drum and bass.
Max USB current load (drumming fingers on the coaster for full light show) is 0.8A should she wish to take it & a power bank to a Pub, given they find a baby sitter for that young Aiden - can't be me, I'm 12hrs bike ride away according to Google Maps & don't own a bike anyway ... or car, helicopter or Stargate.

Superb bit of kit.

Turned up a day or two after payment in the post, so nice and quick.
Does exactly what it says on the tin and gives me a properly synced clock on my wall (and across my network). Overkill? Probably. Fun? Definitely.
Superb quality, and easy enough to fit together. I’m picking up a decent amount of sats even with the antenna in my office going thru plasterboard insulation and the roof tiles (a room in the middle of my flat so no direct window but it’s where all my network gear lives)
All well designed, well thought out and open source.

De-cloud the AC

Works as it should, more responsive than the original Daikin (builtin) wifi module, and no cloud.
Only small drawback is that there's no setting to require authentication for everything, you can only configure this for the settings. Especially in typical home networks you don't always have VLAN separation for IoT devices, so depending on who you share the network with, it means anyone in your local network can control the A/C.

A cable and a case, not much that can go warong

Unfortunately the cable was not useful to me because my AC has the small 2mm JST connector (PAP-05V-S) which is not compatible with the duponts on this cable, but that's not the cable's fault. But otherwise the cable looks well-made.
The case is fine, it's compatible with current Faikouts. To put an old Faikin module from a few years ago in, one needs to snip the small plastic part that collides with the coil (which changed placement over the years). I'd also put a ziptie around it - especially with current Faikouts it snaps fine, but depending on where in the A/C case you put the module (e.g. close to a PCB that may have mains voltage), I'd rather have a second layer of protection.

Excellent product

Ordered 2 of them. Shipped quickly and arrived faster than expected in California. Only issue is I ordered 2 cases and 2 cables. Everything arrived except 1 case. No big deal for me. But double check orders; because someone may have issue with a Missing item.

I have ordered with generic S21 cable. The dupont plugs were a little to big for the JST-PS 2.0 on the DAIKIN board. But in the end easy to fix with the wright tool.
Installation without any problems any via MQTT within seconds integrated to Homeassistant. THX

After setting up the device, I was never able to connect to it again

My experience with this product was very frustrating and disappointing. My step-by-step experience:
1: I opened the package and was pleasantly surprised with how complete it was and how the print was designed
2: I connected the device to my Airco and powered it up
3: I connected to the WiFi AP an configured my WiFi and my MQTT server hostname
4: I power cycled the airco
5: The device did not connect to my WiFi
6: I looked at the device and noticed it was flashing red/green
7: With the help of Google AI, i spent 4 hours trying to get the device up again. (Switched RX/TX, disconnected the 5V reference, resetting the device, connecting it without RX/TX)
8: I never saw the device WiFi AP again, so I gave up

Had to make the S21 connector on the generic cables. I think it would be better to also order the corresponding connector.
Easy detection and integration into Home Assistant and without a detour through a country or company that might decide slap a tarif.

Perfect addition to my Daikin.

Installed on a Daikin Perfera FTXM25A.
The supplied cable came with Dupont jumper connectors. Those proved to be too large to properly fit in my connector.
I removed the plastic cap and insulated the wire termination with a piece of heatshrink tube. After determining the pin orientation and plugging it in it just worked.
Home assistant recognises it immedeately via MQTT autodiscovery. Highly recommended to anyone that aspires a cloud-free automation.

Very good product though dismantling a daikin unit takes practice!

Must buy companion cable. Documentation should say what order to connect the loose fly-leads. And why is a UK sold product sold to UK customers in euros?

Love it, excellent product

The documentation on GitHub/Codeberg is very comprehensive.
Setup was simple, all steps are well documented, and all wiring is unique so it requires basic know-how ;)
The adapter itself works flawlessly and setup was very easy.

It just works !

I ordered two controllers. After 2 months, I highly recommend the addition.
The software and hardware are solid. Regular updates. Features-rich UI. Stable software.
The documentation is slightly lacking on the _physical_ installation instructions.
I understand that Daikin models can vary. I could not find a step-by-step instructions guide for any specific model.
That said, it took 30 minutes to complete the first installation. Not a big issue.
