Product: pico-ice RP2040 plus Lattice iCE40UP5K FPGA 343 sold
I'm planning to use the Pico-Ice or Pico2-Ice for my Digital Design class in the fall.
I purchased this so I could experience firsthand how the Pico-Ice or Pico2-Ice worked before teaching a class in Digital Design this coming Fall quarter at Walla Walla University. I like open tools. I want it to be easy for my students to program an ICE40UP5K (so I can use the open toolchain OSS CAD Suite). They have experience with the Raspberry Pi Pico, and having one of them on the board makes it more versatile. I want them to be able to do a design project and have a lot of their learning be based on that experience for the last six weeks of a ten-week quarter, using AI as a tutor. The Pico-Ice was good for that. The price is more reasonable than the Pico2-Ice, and I wasn't sure I was going to pick this evaluation board when I ordered. The MicroPython way of programming the ICE40 is pretty convenient. The only thing I would like that isn't there right out of the box is to be able to program it more easily using the Earl E. Philhower Arduino-Picco framework, but hopefully it won't be very hard to make that work too.

FPGA that just works!
I received the boards in good condition and could program them with apio no problem
