My version of a tiny GPS tracker/logger you can put into anything you want to track and see where it has been.
Sensors
Arduino
GPS

What is it?

NEW! Smaller version with less current consumption, around 30 mA, everything else is the same. It measures only 20 x 20 x 13 mm.

A tiny GPS tracker/logger that runs from 3.7 volt to 5 volts and records the data onto a micro SD card for displaying it with Google Earth for example. Micro SD card not included.

You can specify the recording frequency from once a second to 10 minutes when ordering. I will set it to 1 second by default.

Why did you make it?

I always wanted one, most of these units you can buy are not real GPS trackers and use the GPRS signals from cell towers to triangulate the position which is not precise at all. I did some calculations and based on the actual recordings I can say that at a recording frequency of once per second, the gpx file of one hour recording is less than 1 MB. One day = 24 MB and on with a 1GB SD card you can record more than 40 days.

What makes it special?

It's by me, no joke aside, it's simple to use, works in a box :-) just insert your micro SD card apply power and start recording your position anywhere on the planet or even in the air, hot air balloons come to mind.

You have visual feedback for when the satellite signal is received and that it is recording to the micro SD card correctly with the onboard blue LED.

It does record latitude, longitude, altitude, time, date, heading and speed of your choice in miles per hour, kilometer per hour or knots per hour. It saves the data in a GPX file format that you can just drag and drop onto an open window of Google Earth and see your recorded track without having to convert anything.

There is even a free Android app ( GPX Viewer ) probably iOS as well, that you can use that works exactly like Google Earth, but with additional features, please see the attached screenshot pictures.
