Built around a Microchip dsPIC with 64k flash memory. The display is a 1.3" 240 by 240 pixel colour LCD which, although small, is large enough to see the invaders.

Two pushbuttons move your laser left and right and a third button fires.

There is a piezo on board for the game sound effects which are 8-bit samples rendered with a high-frequency 1-bit PWM output.

All the components are through-hole and the chip is socketed so it's not too hard to solder.

Requires 3 x AA cells (not supplied).
