What is it?

A small test board to determine the ideal resistance for a led in case power consumtion matters. Or to see if that led doesn't start glaring like the sun if the voltage has a span instead of being fixed.

Sure you could calculate based on the specs, but I prefered to do it once this way instead.

Features

  • Footprints for a 0402, 0603, 0805 or 1206 led in parallel.
  • 10R 250mW shunt resistor to measure the current draw.
  • Three potentiometers: 10k, 100k and 500k.
  • A 5k1 resistor in parallel (via solder jumper) with the 10k pot turns it into a 3K4 one.
  • Footprint for a 0603 cap in parallel with the leds, figured might come in handy to see effect (if any) on PWM signal to a led.
  • Pinheader and removable terminal block for power/PWM.
  • Big loops to connect hooks to measure:
    • Voltage drop over the shunt
    • Total resistance of the potentiometer bank
    • Voltage drop over the led.
