This NFC + Audio + LEDs + SD Card development module is built around an ESP32-S3 microcontroller, featuring a PN5321 NFC reader, MAX98357 I²S amplifier, eight WS2812B addressable RGB LEDs, and a MicroSD card slot—ideal for creating synchronized audio-visual interactions, NFC-triggered behaviors, and local storage for audio or data.
Microcontroller & Connectivity
Powered by the ESP32-S3 SoC, offering Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, and sufficient computational capacity for real-time audio decoding, LED effects, NFC operations, and SD card access.
NFC Reader
Utilizes PN5321 to support ISO/IEC 14443 A/B tags, peer-to-peer NFC, and emulation modes. Compatible with MIFARE Classic/Ultralight/DESFire, Innovision Jewel, FeliCa, and NTAG215 card types.
Audio Output
MAX98357 amplifier delivers up to 3 W audio to the included speaker via I²S with excellent clarity.
RGB LED Effects
Eight WS2812B LEDs allow full RGB control per pixel—perfect for status indicators, sound-sync lighting, animations, and more.
SD Card Interface
Onboard MicroSD card slot (supports up to 32 GB) for local storage of audio files, logs, or configuration data.

The PN5321 supports multiple operating modes at 13.56 MHz:
Emulation and peer-to-peer modes enable advanced use cases such as virtual card creation and direct device-to-device exchanges.
Refer to the Pinout and Internal Connections section for detailed GPIO mappings.
Use Cases
Software & Code Examples
Leverage frameworks such as Arduino, ESP-IDF, MicroPython, and ESPHome. PN532 libraries are widely available for these environments.
Power
Supply power via USB-C or 5 V through the onboard connector.
Example Loaded
On startup, the example firmware is ready to read NFC tags and perform the following behavior:
success.mp3
from the MicroSD card (SD card not included) and flash the LEDs in green.Documentation (learn.hermitx.es)
