The Battery Emulator is a compact all-in-one bench tool that combines a programmable bench power supply, electronic load and battery emulator in a single standalone device. It is designed for developing, testing and analyzing power electronics, battery-powered devices, chargers and embedded systems directly on the workbench.
Unlike a conventional laboratory power supply, the device can actively emulate realistic battery behavior including adjustable output voltage, current limiting and simulated internal resistance. It can also operate as an electronic load for discharge tests and charger validation while continuously monitoring voltage, current, power and energy values.
The device features a rotary encoder driven OLED user interface and can operate independently without requiring a PC. USB-C is used for power input, firmware updates and optional PC connectivity.

What it can do
The device can operate as a programmable power source with adjustable voltage and current limits, as an electronic load for controlled discharge testing, or as a battery emulator for realistically simulating battery-powered systems.
In battery emulation mode, the output behavior can mimic real batteries including voltage sag under load caused by configurable internal resistance. This allows realistic testing of embedded devices, motor drivers, converters and battery chargers without requiring physical batteries.
The electronic load functionality enables controlled power dissipation for testing power supplies, converters, USB-C adapters and charging circuits. Voltage, current, power and transferred energy are continuously monitored and displayed in real time.
The device can also analyze charger behavior by simultaneously simulating a battery while internally dissipating incoming energy using the integrated electronic load stage. This allows observation of charging curves, current limiting behavior and voltage regulation characteristics under controlled conditions.
Typical use cases
- Development of battery-powered electronics
- Testing embedded systems without physical batteries
- Charger validation and charger behavior analysis
- Power supply testing
- DC/DC converter evaluation
- Battery simulation during firmware development
- Electronic load and discharge testing
- USB-C PD adapter testing
- Verifying current limiting and protection behavior
- Educational and laboratory use
- Bench testing without a computer
User interface
Operation is performed entirely using the onboard OLED display and rotary encoder, allowing the device to function as a fully self-contained laboratory tool.
The interface provides live monitoring of voltage, current, power, energy consumption and battery simulation parameters directly on the device.
